Advisory Board Members

Ron Blombery, Principal, ReSure

After commencing his professional career in metallurgy research, in 1975 Ron took up a position with Marsh & McLennan where he consulted to major Australian and international organisations on risk engineering and safety management issues. In 1978 he was appointed a Director of Marsh & McLennan where he built the Australian arm of M&M Protection Consultants into a professional services group operating on a fee for service concept.

He formed Objective Risk Management (O.R.M) in 1982 as an independent risk management services company specialising in risk engineering and workers compensation claims management. O.R.M went on to develop risk and claims management software systems for occupational health and safety, corporate self insurers, insurance brokers and insurance companies. The company was a market leader in Australasia and the Americas. He sold his interest in the business in November 2000, and after a period of consulting in project management and system design, he created the ReSure concept in 2003.

Ron is a frequent speaker at risk management and insurance gatherings and has contributed a large number of publications in this field. He holds a Bachelors degree and a Doctor of Philosophy in Metallurgy, and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Risk Management.

Debbie Blombery, Principal, ReSure

Debbie joined Objective Risk Management (O.R.M), an independent risk management services company, in November 1982. She worked as system analyst and developer of O.R.M’s risk and claims management system, initially alone and then in conjunction with other developers.

In her roles as Customer Services Manager, and then Business Development Manager at O.R.M, Debbie worked closely with customers on their system requirements. These often included data conversions, installation of systems and user training, as well as analysis and specification of modifications for new and existing software. Her main role was one of liaison between the customer and the software developers. She also provided technical assistance to the customers, particularly in the areas of system customisation and reporting. Debbie was involved in the development of in-house business systems and training manuals, as well as marketing and sales activities.

After the sale of O.R.M in November 2000, Debbie worked as an independent consultant until the formation of ReSure in 2003.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cape Town. Working for a small software company with a niche market has provided Debbie with expertise in both the technical and commercial aspects of database management systems.
